sukun (“we”, “our”, or “the app”) is a calm, minimalist
Quran audio application developed by Arakat. sukun is available as a web application at https://sukun.arakat.app and as a mobile application for Android
(Application ID: com.arakat.sukun).
We believe that listening to the Holy Qur'an should be peaceful, pure, and completely free from distractions and intrusive data collection. This Privacy Policy describes how sukun handles data, the third-party audio services we use, and your rights when using the application.

This data remains strictly stored on your own device and is never transmitted to, synced with, or stored on our servers. You can clear this data at any time by clearing your browser cache or resetting app storage in Android settings.
sukun streams audio recitations directly from trusted Islamic audio CDNs and API providers. When you play a Surah, your device establishes a direct HTTP/HTTPS connection with the selected content provider to retrieve the audio file and reciter metadata:
Like any web request on the internet, your device transmits standard network headers (such as your public IP address and device User-Agent) directly to these third-party audio servers so they can deliver the audio stream to your player. These providers operate under their respective privacy terms and industry-standard server logging practices.
Users who wish to support the project can choose to make a voluntary contribution via external links to PayPal or Buy Me a Coffee. All payments are processed entirely on those third-party platforms. sukun does not process, receive, or store any payment or financial details.
The Android version of sukun (com.arakat.sukun) requests only the minimal technical permissions
required to operate as an audio player:
android.permission.INTERNET: Required to stream Quran recitations from the audio APIs mentioned
above.
android.permission.FOREGROUND_SERVICE &
android.permission.FOREGROUND_SERVICE_MEDIA_PLAYBACK: Required on Android 14+ so that audio
playback continues without interruption when you switch apps or turn off your screen.
android.permission.POST_NOTIFICATIONS: Required on Android 13+ to display the system media
playback controls (play, pause, previous, next) in your notification shade and lock screen. We never send
promotional or spam push notifications.
android.permission.WAKE_LOCK: Ensures continuous audio playback without the operating system
prematurely cutting off the audio stream while your phone is locked.
sukun is intended for people of all ages, including children and families seeking to listen to and memorize the Holy Qur'an.
Because our app collects no personal information, we do not knowingly collect, request, or maintain personally identifiable information from children under the age of 13 (or under 16 in applicable jurisdictions), in compliance with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and the European Union General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
All communications between sukun, our web domain, and third-party audio APIs are conducted over industry-standard HTTPS/TLS encryption to ensure that your traffic cannot be tampered with or intercepted in transit.
Under regulations such as GDPR and CCPA, users have rights regarding their personal data (access, rectification, erasure). Because sukun holds no personal data, accounts, or user records on any server, there is no database record for us to retrieve or delete.
